Stephen Hatfield Pro-D workshop

Stephen Hatfield is a composer/conductor of an acclaimed body of hundreds of choral music titles. He has taught primary to post-graduate ages, led festivals, educational programs and conferences around the world. His choral music is loved by choirs of all ages.

Thursday night, watch Stephen rehearse his compositions then network with colleagues and Q&A Stephen’s unique approach to choral music. 

Friday, Stephen presents his creative lesson ideas for general music classes of all ages; his “toys” for teaching vocal technique and musical concepts; and his philosophy of music education. at Evergreen Cultural Centre Rehearsal Studio (enter via back stage door) 1205 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam *Parking is inexpensive, but a ticket must be purchased, OR park down the road near Glen Elementary and walk to Evergreen. 

  • 4:30 pm- 6:30pm OPEN REHEARSAL: Observe Stephen Hatfield rehearse and workshop his music with Coastal Sound Children’s Choir
  • 8:00 pm   INFORMAL NETWORKING and Q & A with Stephen and colleagues at St. James Well in Newport Village, Port Moody (buy your own drinks and food)

 

Friday, February 19 (District Pro-D Day)

  • 9:00 am – 1:30 pm workshops with Stephen Hatfield as follows
  • 9:00 – 10:15  General Music Principals & Creative Composition Activities for all ages
  • 10:45 – 11:45 Innovative Approaches to Teaching Vocal Technique and Choral Performance
  • 11:45- 12:30 LUNCH *to be confirmed if this is catered by CTA
  • 12:30 – 1:30 Reading Session of Stephen Hatfield’s music. There is no charge for this session, but music scores have been borrowed and need to be returned at the end of the session. 
  • 1:30 Time for music educators to meet, plan and collaborate as needed
