COASTAL SOUND OFFERS AN UPLIFTING CHORAL EXPERIENCE WITH NEW SEASON
Award-winning choirs deliver artistry, spirit, community and heart to concert-goers.
Coquitlam, BC (September 30, 2014) – Invigorated by last year’s 25th anniversary season that included an appearance on Michael Bublé’s 3rd Annual Christmas Special aired on CTV and an uplifting performance on this summer’s PNE concert stage backing Universal recording artists Hey Ocean!, Coastal Sound Music Academy announces a new season of live concert experiences from its children, youth and adult choirs.
Featuring performances in Vancouver and Coquitlam, the 2014-15 season offers something for the whole family. Two different holiday events have become tradition for many Lower Mainland families, and the spring of 2015 brings the world premiere of new work from composer Kristopher Fulton. Indiekör at the Vogue Theatre has grown exponentially in popularity with the youth choir putting a new spin on favorites by Mumford and Sons and Vampire Weekend.
The choirs’ growing fan base has a lot to do with the uplifting nature of their music. An attendee of last year’s Christmas show explains, ‘The myriad of choirs of varying ages took turns entertaining us with their glorious voices. In the end all the vocalists and musicians performed together, culminating in a Christmas experience that sent shivers up and down my spine! When I left I could feel everyone’s energy, the joy and love one feels leaving a beautiful church having just been entertained by a magnificent number of sweet-sounding voices. Peace, joy and love were in the air…an absolutely wonderful Christmas production!’
Coastal Sound Artistic Director Diana Clark understands this concert-goer’s engagement with the music. She says, ‘In these troubled times, people seem to be craving the sense of community that our choirs bring. We inherently want to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. More than ever, people need something that uplifts them, puts them in the moment. Our choral music does that.’
